The Local General Store

The Local General Store is part bakery, part butcher shop, and market. They specialize.in artisanal pastries featuring locally grown and harvested produce and whole animal butchery from farms across Hawaii. Their goal is to make local food more accessible to local people. The Local General Store is currently a pop-up butcher shop and bakery – with plans of opening a brick and mortar soon.

At The Local General Stores farmers market booth or pop-up market you will find their fresh, locally sourced meats -from Makaha to Kualoa- that is butchered in house. They also offer freshly baked pastries that highlight one or more ingredient from our farmers such as vanilla beans from the Reppun Farm in Waiahole to Sweet Peas from J.Ludovico in Waialua.

You may be asking how does a butcher and baker create a stronger Hawaii?

The Local General Store’s meats (beef, pork, chicken, venison, and lamb) are sourced directly from ranchers across Hawaii. They get the animals in whole, cut them into retail cuts, and sell them directly to their customers at the farmers market. This increases accessibility of locally grown meat to the local community.

Also, their pastries highlight local produce and fruits – working with farmers from Waiahole to Waialua. These farmers are always highlighted in their menus. By sourcing directly from the farmers, they are ensuring that the majority of your dollar spent with their business goes back to local farmers and ranchers
