Sea Seven
Sea Seven is a sustainable and ethical swimwear and apparel small business in Honolulu. Its mission is creating and sharing pieces of art through fashion and bringing a greater awareness to the social responsibility tied with the fashion industry. It encourages slow over fast fashion.
Sea Seven believes in transparency in its production. It partners with a company in the continental United States to manufacture apparel with sustainable fabrics and practices. One of owners explains fabrics they use need 90% less water and greenhouse gasses; need 62% less artificial energy as they rely on nature’s own energy to thrive. Sea Seven produces swimwear in Indonesia.
Over 99% of the production is made from recycled fabrics from salvaged ocean waste, such as discarded nylon fishing nets, plastic bottles, as well as post-consumer waste. All of apparel designs are printed locally with another local small business.
Sea Seven strives to work with local organizations in the community of sustainability. Most known partnership was with the Wipeout Crew from Kaiser High School. It gave back 10% of Mother Earth Collection profits back to the organization, guest spoke, and volunteered in their community garden. Sea Seven will continue to support the community of sustainability.
